Giancarlo Stanton and Jose Trevino also went deep for New York, which has won 12 of 14 and improved to an AL-best 32-15. The Yankees matched 2002 as the only times since 1950 they have won 12 of their first 15 series. Soto was 4 for 4 with a walk and is batting .317 with 37 RBIs.

Bellinger got the winning rally started with a ground-rule double down the left-field line with one out off David Bednar. Morel then cracked a 3-2 pitch up the middle, and Bellinger narrowly beat Michael A. Taylor's throw to the plate on a play that withstood a video review. Hector Neris tossed a perfect ninth, striking out two, for the win. Bednar took the loss.
Twins' Byron Buxton is back after 2-week stint on injured list with right knee inflammation

Twins outfielder Byron Buxton returned from the injured list and was back in Minnesota's lineup batting fifth after being sidelined the past two weeks with inflammation in his right knee. Buxton missed Minnesota's past 14 games. He played in back-to-back games this week at Triple-A St. Paul without any problems, the final step to being cleared to rejoin the Twins. Buxton was placed on the IL on May 3, two days after his knee flared up in a game against the White Sox. The 30-year-old Buxton has had surgery on the knee in each of the past two postseasons.

Shohei Ohtani slugged a two-run homer and scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning when the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied after blowing a 3-0 lead to beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-3. The Los Angeles city council earlier proclaimed May 17 as Shohei Ohtani Day in the city for as long as the Japanese two-way superstar plays for the Dodgers. He signed a record $700 million, 10-year contract in December. The Dodgers also got home runs from Mookie Betts and Jason Heyward, who had a two-run shot after coming off the injured list earlier in the day. Cincinnati's Stuart Fairchild and Tyler Stephenson went deep.

Some losses are tougher than others and the Minnesota Twins were feeling the sting of a particularly rough one. Several questionable pitch calls and a confusing rule violation Friday night tripped up the Twins, who dropped their fourth straight, 3-2 as the Cleveland Guardians got a home run in the eighth inning from José Ramírez after Minnesota reliever Jhoan Duran got squeezed by plate umpire Roberto Ortiz. The Twins were also called for an infield shift violation, the first one in the majors this season. Shortstop Carlos Correa was called for being on the wrong side of second base in the sixth inning.

The last time Ron Washington and Bruce Bochy had managed against each other in Texas was during the 2010 World Series. Baseball's oldest two managers are facing each other in a three-game series there this weekend. The 72-year-old Washington is back as a visiting manager for the first time with the Los Angeles Angels. Washington and the 69-year-old Bochy are the only managers to take Texas to the World Series. The Rangers won their first championship last year in Bochy's first season with them. Washington took them to the World Series in 2010 and 2011. They lost the first one in five games to Bochy's San Francisco Giants.

That gave Ron Washington a victory in his first game as a visiting manager in Texas. Neto snapped a 1-1 tie and put the Angels ahead to stay with his two-run homer in the fourth. Washington is the winningest manager in Rangers' history with his 664 wins from 2007-14, and took them to their first two World Series in 2010 and 2011. This is his first managerial job since. Jonah Heim and Marcus Semien went deep for Texas.

Jurickson Profar was 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored and Jake Cronenworth was 3 for 5 with an RBI for the Padres, who totaled 13 hits. Tyler Alexander took a perfect game bid into the eighth inning before Danny Jansen blooped an opposite-field, one-out single, and the Tampa Bay Rays hung on to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3. Richie Palacios hit a two-run home run as the Rays built a 4-0 lead and hung on for their 10th win in 14 games. Alexander retired his first 22 batters before Jansen hit a 1-0 changeup near the low, outside corner off the end of his bat. The ball landed cleanly 206 feet from the plate, between right fielder Josh Lowe and Palacios at second.

New York dropped to 20-24, losing for the sixth time in eight games and falling four games under .500 for the first time since a 1-5 start. The Mets have been shut out five times.

He has three scoreless starts of at least six innings this season. Oakland has been outscored 36-6 during its losing streak, which dropped the A's to 19-28.
Dodgers acquire lefty Anthony Banda from Guardians for cash

The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired pitcher Anthony Banda from the Cleveland Guardians for cash. The 30-year-old left-hander has a 2.12 ERA with 25 strikeouts over 17 innings in 12 games for Triple-A Columbus this season. Banda pitched in 10 games for the Washington Nationals last season, allowing five runs in seven innings. He has spent part of seven seasons in the majors with Arizona, Tampa Bay, the New York Mets, Pittsburgh, Toronto, New York Yankees and the Nats. He is a combined 7-6 with a 5.69 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 118 2/3 innings.
